Machine learning in large dimensional astronomy data set

Machine learning and data mining in Astronomy becomes more important to extract the useful information in large dimensional data set from large scale surveys. In particular, characterizing the complex pattern of data in high dimensional space is very interesting research subject. Astronomers really need a machinery for doing this as does IRAF for image analysis. For the desktop application, Python seems to be a reasonable tool given the simplicity and the enough computational speed for production work.

The recent development in Python machine learning library PyBrain ( is worth a look at.
